Relax, Enjoy and Explore Dorset from our Beautiful House at the Beach
We are excited to be able to say we are now open!
We have spent a lot of time thinking about how best to do open safely, taking into account the best advice and guidance that is available from the government and hospitality associations. We are keeping some rooms closed and have set a minimum stay of three nights, for all new bookings, in order to make it easier for guests to maintain social distancing. If the room you would like to book is not available please contact us so we can see what we can do.
We appreciate that these are uncertain times for all of us and so all bookings made directly on our website will have a fully refundable deposit for stays taking place up until the end of September.
For details about what we are doing to keep you as safe as possible during this time, please take a look at this page. (We will update this page as and when new guidance and advice becomes available.)
We’d like to thank all past and future guests for your support. We look forward to seeing you again soon! In the meantime, please keep safe and well.
Rebalance your senses, relax and unwind in our friendly family-run guest house on the stunning Dorset coast. We serve excellent breakfasts, provide comfortable rooms and are located right by one of England’s best beaches.
The Whitecliff is located just a few metres from the beautiful Weymouth beach and a few minutes walk from Weymouth’s many shops, restaurants and attractions. Weymouth is the gateway to the world famous Jurassic Coast and Isle of Purbeck. It’s a perfect base from which to enjoy a family holiday by the sea, a romantic getaway, an artistic retreat or a ramble around the stunning coastline and countryside.
We, Ian and Julia, pride ourselves on providing a warm and welcoming home from home whether you are visiting for pleasure, family or business.
Private bathroom for every room (most en-suite).
Full English breakfast or a lighter option.
Right on the beach.
Kettle, tea and coffee in all rooms.
Small dogs welcome by prior arrangement (and for a small charge) as long as they don’t mind our cats. (Please read here for further details.)
Close to town centre and the Sea Life Centre.
A perfect location from which to explore the world-famous Jurassic Coast, including Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and the Isle of Portland (all within sight of the Whitecliff).
A Dorset Breakfast
We locally source as much of our breakfast as we can. Our free-range eggs, milk, black pudding, bacon and sausages are all locally sourced here in Dorset. Our tea, hot chocolate and coffee is from Clipper, an ethical Fairtrade Dorset company. We make our own granola and (in more normal circumstances) our jam and marmalade is homemade by a friend in Weymouth.
Our full English breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans, tomato, mushrooms, egg (poached, fried or scrambled) and hash brown, as well as your choice of tea or coffee, cereal, toast and juice.
If that’s too much you can choose one of our light bites. These include home-made American pancakes, omelettes, eggs (poached, scrambled, fried or boiled), beans on toast, bacon or sausage sandwich and porridge.
If you’d rather eat in your room, we can bring you a breakfast basket with croissants, cereal, bacon or sausage sandwiches.
Breakfast is served between 8 and 9. (Earlier breakfasts can often be arranged by prior agreement.)
Local and ethical
Dorset is a wonderful county that we’re proud to be living and working in.. We buy as much as we can locally, from a butcher just down the road, the health food shop in town, a friend who has a jam and marmalade home business, a Dorset tea and coffee company, and from local farms.
We are also very aware of our impact on the global community so all our hot drinks and sugars are Fairtrade and, for the last two years, all our electricity has been produced from renewable sources.
We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely home by the sea in this most beautiful part of the world.
